The Executive exists in terms of our constitution to manage the day to day activities of the Chamber. It has many roles and amongst them is the long term viability and health of the chamber.

It approves and oversees the activities of the respective committees.  To view each executive members responsibilities Click here

The aim and philosophy of the Executive Team is to engage as many of the Chamber members as possible. This leads to smaller roles being covered by many and as well allows the Chamber to achieve as much as it does.

Whilst this takes place at a local level members of the Executive Committee engage with and represent on regional bodies. The aim being to be able to advocate from a stronger base.

We are keen to ensure that incoming members are able to transition into their positions with ease and encourage any members interested in contributing at this level to contact our Secretary.

The Purpose of the Committee. The purpose of our Committee is to market and promote the Chamber to the local Hills and district community.

We do this through organising and coordinating the annual Big Breakfast – the Chamber’s major fundraising event.

The funds raised are distributed to deserving groups within the local community.  These groups may be youth support, aged citizens or school students.  The decision on which group is to receive funds is made by the Chamber members.

During the last three years, the Committee has donated approximately $20,000 to the following organisations and individuals:

  • Hills PCYC

  • local School chaplaincy programs

  • Picabeen Community Association

  • Sandy Hobley - Embracing Dyslexia

Benefits for our Chamber generated from the Big Breakfast include:

Raised profile - publicising and promoting the Big Breakfast raises the Chamber’s profile in the local community.

Increased membership - The event attracts employers and business owners, their clients and customers who would not normally attend monthly Chamber meetings.

Getting to know your Chamber more – the committee is a great vehicle for members to work and socialise with other members outside of monthly Chamber meetings.

Benefits of being in the Committee - I have found that working with Chamber members from different business backgrounds and with different business skills has enriched my understanding of the great work the Chamber carries out. All members donate their time and energy for the benefit of the Committee, and I look forward to my meetings and the energy that they generate. Discussion and resolution of issues provides me with a framework for debate which can translate to my business.

Why our committee is the best one to join - Thoughts from a member - My fellow Committee members have been welcoming, supportive and encouraging.  The biggest benefit is belonging to a great group of like-minded people from differing business backgrounds working for a common goal. Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinion, and all opinions are treated with respect.  This in part is due to the direction of the chairperson.  I have been a member for 2 years and would recommend to everyone to become involved.

Are you under 35?

Are you OK NOT being in the "normalised" level of happiness, wealth or lifestyle?

Do you feel like your friends just don't 'get' you and when you start talking passionately about your business -  friends either roll their eyes at you or continually put you down - saying that you're crazy and you CAN'T do this?

Do you love Monday's? Do you even know what day it is? Do you feel that weekends don't really mean much to you anymore - because when you're passionate about something - work is easy?

If yes! Join us!

We only accept "Tall Poppies" in this committee (and that's saying a lot because your executive member - barely makes 5 Foot!)

What does the committee do?

Our goal is to help young founders feel like they are not alone and there are people who understand them. The committee aims to support young members and courage them to continue developing a successful business. We do this by organising monthly catch ups and themed Q&A panels for young founders.

Our Purpose

  • Create a group of like-minded friends
  • Provide each other with valuable support for our businesses and the ability to support others
  • A hub for young founders on the North Side of Brisbane
  • Support the long jeopardy of the Hills and District Chamber of Commerce
